Why We Luv This
When I first saw Sarah Ashley Longshore’s work in 2002, I was taken aback by the power in her paintings. Where from within this sweet woman did these “in your face” images come? Nonetheless, I could relate being an artist and a woman who at certain points in my life struggled between my own human expression and the masks we are asked to wear. — MAGGIE HERNANDEZ-KNIGHT (Site Submitted by the Artist, Sarah Ashley Longshore 10/2/09)

Why We Luv This
In the beginning there was portraiture. When I was forced against my will to study abstract painting, I discovered it was the ultimate freedom for me and I never turned back. This piece is in the Citigroup collection, selected by the CEO, Vikram Pandit. — Maggie Hernandez-Knight
